Tech talent for tomorrow: key skills from Europe’s ATTRACT Academy 970 545 ATTRACT Project phase 2

How can Europe better prepare its next generation of tech entrepreneurs? What skills are essential in an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing global market? These are some of the questions addressed in the latest episode from the Science|Business podcast series focused on the ATTRACT Academy, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping young entrepreneurs with the multidisciplinary skills necessary for success in the tech industry.

In this opportunity, the podcast featured Cinzia Da Vià, professor of Physics at the University of Manchester and member of the ATTRACT Independent Committee, who shared her insights into the essential skills needed by young entrepreneurs and how Europe can address the talent pipeline challenge, particularly in critical and emerging technology fields. She emphasized that they need to be very skilled in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity, among others, regardless of the tech sector they are.

The ATTRACT Academy focuses on interdisciplinary, challenge-based learning, allowing students to gain hands-on experience by working alongside professionals from diverse fields.

“The Academy brings together a broader set of skills beyond the basics because we were talking until now of what one person should have. But this goes beyond, mixing technical, business, psychological, and design expertise, explained Professor Da Vià.

This real-world approach equips students with the technical expertise and an adaptive, creative mindset needed to tackle the complex challenges of the global tech landscape. Programs like this aim to transform how Europe nurtures its tech talent, setting a new standard for entrepreneurial education.

Here you can listen to the Science|Business podcast “Hot Talent: how to train Tech Innovators”.
