Description

Over the past decade, increased investments in space exploration and affordable satellites have significantly raised the number of launches, risking space becoming cluttered with defunct satellites and debris. To address this, we propose a five-part system focused on debris management, resource utilization, and sustainable collaboration. First, an International Coalition of Space Programs (ICSP) to foster collaboration on exploration and debris remediation. Second, the Orbital Recovery Recycling and Utilization System (ORRUS) missions to capture, process, and store space debris for future projects. Third, an Orbital Resource Depository (ORD) to recover and process satellite scraps, maintain a database of materials, and turn them into resources for space missions. Fourth, a Shared Space Infrastructure (SSI) to facilitate satellite servicing and maintenance. Finally, Immersive Exhibitions (Orbitarium) to raise public awareness about space debris and sustainability. By uniting space programs, deploying specialized missions, managing resources efficiently, and engaging the public, this system aims to make space exploration more sustainable, accessible, and beneficial for all.
